Acura NSX: specs, price, horsepower, top speed and acceleration 0 – 100

At the North American International Auto Show in January 2015, Japanese premium brand Acura officially revealed to the public the new production NSX sports car – the successor to the legendary first generation model that was launched 25 years ago.

This mid-engined car is known in Japan and Europe as the Honda NSX, while in the US and China the same model is sold under the Acura brand. It is produced by Honda’s plant in Ohio.

At the heart of the Acura NSX is a spatial frame made from a combination of steel, aluminium and carbon fibre with high angular torsional stiffness. The body is made from aluminium and composites, resulting in a weight of 1,725 kg (42:58 axle weight distribution in favour of the rear). Both axles are equipped with independent suspension on double wishbones with adaptive shock absorbers filled with magnetorheological fluid. The powerful braking system consists of monobloc six-piston devices in the front and four-piston in the rear, with carbon ceramic pancakes mounted on all wheels.

The hybrid sports car’s control electronics includes four modes of operation – Quiet, Sport, Sport+ and Track. The first mode allows the NSX to drive pure electric propulsion, while the other modes automatically switch settings of all major units.
