The Dutch company Donkervoort Automobielen is producing a variation on the Lotus Seven. The D8 GTO sports car was launched in 2013.
The sports car has a spatial body frame made from lightweight and durable steel. Plus, carbon fibre is heavily used in the design, and carbon fibre rims and a titanium exhaust system are available as options.
The vehicle’s curb weight is 695 kg, but this can be increased or decreased depending on the equipment selected. For example, you can order heated comfort seats instead of sports buckets, install additional wind protection, adjustable electric power steering, air conditioning, radar detector, alarm system, rearview camera and smartphone holder. Or you can take the route of asceticism and lightness – abandon the paint and flaunt “bare” carbon fibre bodywork (with or without varnish), install carbon fibre wheels, lightweight battery, racing exhaust system, racing airfoil with lots of cooling holes in the bonnet, safety cage and other trackside gadgets
