The Lancia Stratos HF is the world’s first car thought to have been originally designed for rallying.

 

The two-seat rear-wheel drive sports car is quite compact: length – 3.7 metres, width – 1.75 metres, wheelbase – 2.18 metres.

At the heart of the Lancia Stratos HF is a steel monocoque with sub-frames to which the fibreglass body panels, drawn by the famous Italian designer Marcello Gandini, are attached.

The Ferrari Dino’s 2.4-litre V6 engine sits behind the rear of the passengers. In the racing specification, it could make up to 320 horsepower, but in the road-going Stradale version it develops only 190 horsepower at 7,000 rpm. The unit is combined with a five-speed manual gearbox.
