Alfa Romeo Montreal: specs, price, horsepower, top speed and acceleration 0 – 100

The car has been famous since its prototype was shown at the 1967 World’s Fair in Montreal, Canada, after which it was named.

The basis for the new model was the running gear of the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint. This included the suspension: independent suspension with double wishbones, coil springs and hydraulic telescopic dampers at the front and a rigid axle with coil springs and coaxial dampers at the rear. The rear wheels were driven by a limited slip differential and a ZF 5-speed gearbox.

Self-ventilated disc brakes with four-piston calipers were fitted to all wheels. The 14-inch Campagnolo aluminium-magnesium alloy wheels were fitted with 195/70 Michelin tyres.

Most interesting is the front of the car, with recessed twin headlamps partially covered by retractable diffusers. On the bonnet is a NACA air duct, designed not to direct air towards the engine, but to cover the bulge. Horizontal air vents in the rear pillar served no function other than stylistic. The rear window served as a boot lid.
