Rolls Royce Ghost Black Badge 2022

Now, 27% of orders for Rolls-Royce cars are for the Black Badge version with its distinctive infinity sign and the ubiquitous black colour.

Black Badge is an extremely popular version of the Royce-Royce, distinguished by a mathematical symbol representing infinity. The logo, also known as Lemniscate, first appeared on the Rolls-Royce-powered Blue Bird K3, on which Sir Malcolm Campbell broke the speed record on the water. The designers of the brand decided to celebrate cars from the Black Badge range with it to emphasize their boundless power and pursuit of excellence.

The first models in the range, introduced by Rolls-Royce in 2016, were the Wraith and Ghost. The Dawn (2017) and Cullinan (2019) soon joined the family. Now a new model has been added to the range, the most technologically advanced vehicle with the Black Badge emblem, the Black Badge Ghost.

Customers can choose from 44,000 colours designed by the brand, but they can also create their own, one-of-a-kind shade within the Bespoke range. It’s worth noting that the majority of people who ordered Ghost opted for the flagship black colour. To create the deepest shade of black in the automotive industry, 45 kg of paint is sprayed onto an electrostatically charged white car body surface, which is then dried in an oven. The bodywork is then coated with two coats of clear primer and then hand sanded by a team of four craftsmen to produce the shiny black finish for which the brand is renowned.

The process, which takes three to five hours and is not used in mass production, delivers a colour intensity unrivalled in the automotive industry.

Rolls Royce Ghost Black Badge 2022 wheels:

The new model features 21-inch composite wheels from the Bespoke range. The rim of each wheel is made from 22 layers of carbon fibre, laid in three directions and then bent around the outer edges of the rim for strength. Further, reinforcing this is a hub made from forged aircraft-grade aluminium, which is connected to the rim with titanium connectors similar to those used in aeronautics. The hub is adorned with branded self-aligning caps, ensuring that the RR monogram is always horizontal.

Rolls Royce Ghost Black Badge 2022 interior:

The layers of wood used in the cabin are pressed onto the substrate, onto which Bolivar’s black veneer is then applied. The dark base is then coated with a luxurious Technical Fiber material. Pieces woven from resin-coated carbon and contrasting metallic threads create a diamond-shaped pattern, which is then hand-applied to the individual interior elements to achieve a 3D effect. To protect this wonderful veneer, each piece is cured under pressure for one hour at 100 °C. It is then sandblasted to create the optimum base for six coats of paint, which are sanded and polished by hand, before the individual pieces are fitted inside the car.

On request, the rear seat elements can be finished in noble Technical Fiber, creating a waterfall effect, with the Black Badge line emblem – the mathematical symbol for infinity. It is made from aircraft-grade aluminium and placed between the third and fourth of six coats of paint, creating the visual illusion of the symbol floating above the Technical Fiber coating.

The unique clock is housed in a remarkable backlit instrument panel, first introduced in the Ghost model. It’s adorned with a glittering infinity symbol that surrounds more than 850 stars. As with the Ghost, the Infinity symbol is illuminated by 152 LED lights mounted above and below the instrument panel. All are perfectly matched to the colour of the clock and the colour of the backlighting of the on-board clock. A 2 mm thick fibre optic is used to ensure uniform illumination of the infinity symbol.

Rolls Royce Ghost Black Badge 2022 engine:

The designers decided that Rolls-Royce’s 6.75-litre twin-supercharged engine was more than enough. However, the iconic unit has been reconfigured with an extra 29 horsepower, meaning that it now has an impressive 600bhp. Torque has been increased by 50 Nm to 900 Nm.
