The previous Chiron Super Sport 300+ was focused on achieving the highest possible top speed, while the Pur Sport variant had other objectives – maximum agility and unrivalled handling.
This is no easy task, given the weight of the car. The engine and transmission alone weigh 800 kg. Top speed? In this case, it wasn’t that important.
Bugatti is a brand of the Volkswagen Group. Everything in its cars must work flawlessly – they are subject to the same rigorous quality standards as large cars.
This decision gave the engineers the freedom to choose certain components. A rigid 1.9m wide rear spoiler, new magnesium rims (which themselves contribute to a weight saving of 16 kg compared to standard wheels), new Michelin sports tyres and, above all, a modified suspension geometry with a -2.5 degree camber angle make the Pur Sport in Bugatti call a rocket car. In order to integrate the negative camber setting, the engineers had to build new ball joints. Seventeen different axle geometry options were calculated and modelled to finally decide which solution would harmonize perfectly with the bodywork, springs and tyres.
There are currently two prototypes of this model available for development work. They look very different from the blue-and-black-painted showcase that was to stand in the spotlight during the Geneva show in March.

Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport engine:
The W16v engine with 1,103 kW (1,500 bhp) and 1,600 Nm of torque has been completely redesigned so that, together with the transmission, it can be perfectly matched to each torque range with revised gear ratios.
Therefore, its rpm is 200 more than that of the Chiron engine used to date. The maximum speed is 7,000 rpm. Gears change even faster thanks to the gearbox. Therefore, the four turbochargers are constantly accelerating: the engineers had to adapt the supercharger pressure regulation by means of a westgate. The Bugatti W16 engine has been given new values for each of the seven gears.
Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport 0 – 100:
The Chiron Pur Sport accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, and in 6th gear it accelerates from 60 to 120. km/h in 4.4 seconds.

The car is electronically limited to a top speed of 350 km/h and revs up to 6900/min.
