Swedish manufacturer of exclusive, powerful and very expensive sports cars, Koenigsegg, is expanding its offer with the Gemera, a hybrid model with 1,700 hp.
It’s hard to believe that Koenigsegg is a Swedish company. The country has strict speed limits on the roads, and Koenigsegg has been producing sports cars with very powerful engines for almost 20 years.
The Gemera is the latest offering. It is a four-seater supercar with carbon fibre bodywork.

Koenigsegg Gemera engine:
The Koenigsegg Gemera has a hybrid drive that offers a total of 1,724 hp and 3,500 Nm of torque.
A hybrid kit has been used, consisting of a 2-litre twin-turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 600bhp (making it the most powerful production 3-cylinder engine). This is coupled to three electric motors, two of which drive the rear wheels and one which drives the front wheels. Their total output is 1,100 bhp. Thus, a total of four Gemera engines develops 1,700 bhp.
Remarkably, the engineers got rid of the camshaft. The valves are controlled electronically and pneumatically. There is a compressor in the unit that creates pressure purely to control the valves, and this system is called Freevalve.
The engine can run on 1, 2 or 3 cylinders depending on the power required , and also in single or twin supercharger mode, regardless of engine speed or load.
